Gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD)
GERD is one of the common illnesses coming to the attention of gastroenterologist. A “Maalox moment” is commonly seen in almost everybody especially eating a rich meal like a Thanksgiving feast.
Patients with GERD have frequent reproductive chest pain, acid reflux in the chest and mouth and occasionally difficulty swallowing. Other manifestations include cough, choking at night, sore throat, hoarseness and pneumonias.
